Storage Transition

The storage transition dashboard can be accessed from the housekeeping tile under the dropdown menu and click on the Storage Transition link.

After clicking on the menu item, it would open a dedicated dashboard in a new tab.

The storage transition dashboard is divided into two parts, the cloud archive administrator can select a collection from the left and a Vidispine’s storage from the right.

Only Vidispine’s storages with write access would be displayed in the destination dropdown.

The table on the left displays available items and it would be automatically populated upon selecting a collection from the select option, the table on the right shows the list of files in the selected destination storage. Contents on both tables are paginated as shown on the screenshot below.

By default the action buttons in the top right corner of the Source Collection are disabled.

The Delete and Export To would be activated if you select at least one item from the source collection, while the Copy To and Move To would be activated if you select at least one item from the Source Collection and you have also selected a Destination Storage.

Storage Transition Actions

There are five actions you can perform on this dashboard.

Copy To - copies the selected item(s) from the source collection to the destination Vidispine’s storage.
Move To - moves the selected item(s) from the source collection to the destination Vidispine’s storage.
Export To - exports the original shape of the selected item(s) from the source collection to the selected Vidispine’s export location
Delete - deletes permanently the selected item(s) from the source collection
Refresh - refreshes the content of the selected Vidispine’s collection/storage

Copy To

Select the item(s) that you would like to copy from the left table. Then select the destination storage from the select option on the right. Clicking on the 'Copy To' button will perform the copy operation to the destination storage.

It may take a few seconds to several minutes to completely copy the selected item(s), depending on their size(s). Refreshing the table on the right will make the copied file visible after the operation is complete on the destination storage.

Move To

Similar to the Copy To action, Move To also requires you to select at least one item from the source collection and have selected destination storage. The only difference here is that the files would be moved to the selected storage location instead of just being copied.

It may take a few seconds to several minutes to completely move the selected item(s), depending on their size(s). Refreshing the table on the right will make the moved file visible after the operation is complete on the destination storage.

Export To

Select the item(s) you would like to export to any export locations. Clicking on the 'Export To' button opens up a new dialog box where you can select the export location.

When selecting the desired export location, the original shape would be exported to the selected location.

In order to use this feature, you need to have defined at least one valide export location in Vidispine.

Delete

Select the item(s) you would like to delete.

Clicking on the 'Delete' button opens up a model. Click on Confirm to delete the item.

Deleting the selected item(s) would remove the item’s ID, its metadata, shapes, and physical files.

Refresh

The last action button is the Refresh button. The user can press the button and this would refresh the content of the Source Collection or the Destination Storage.
