Release Summary
Flow App v6.0.0 is a major platform release featuring the core upgrade to Node-RED 5.0.8, significant performance and scalability improvements for Job Management, enhanced secret redaction and privacy defaults, and production readiness for GitOps PUSH mode.
New Features
-
New Flow Editor Layout & Draggable Sidebar Panels: The redesigned sidebar layout supports drag-and-drop panel arrangement, allowing users to position and display up to four panels simultaneously across the left and right sides of the editor. This enhances navigation and workspace flexibility, enabling users to monitor debug messages, chat with AI Copilot, inspect secret manager information or open any other panel without constantly switching between sidebar tabs.
-
GitOps Plugin PUSH Mode: Released GitOps PUSH mode, making it available for use and enabling users to leverage the PUSH-based integration for workflows.
Improvements
-
Node-RED 5.0.8 Core Upgrade: Upgraded the underlying editor engine to Node-RED 5.0.8, delivering improved stability, modern runtime capabilities, and compatibility with the latest node ecosystem.
-
Job Management Performance Improvements: Optimized workflow data storage by separating large payloads from frequently updated job data, reducing database overhead and improving the speed and efficiency of job status updates, especially under heavy workloads.
-
Faster and More Efficient Logging: Improved logging performance by optimizing how large message objects are stored in logs and Job Management history. To reduce overhead and improve responsiveness, logged message content is limited to 96 kB and may be truncated when this limit is exceeded. This does not affect message size or processing within flows.
Fixes
-
HTTP-in Run History Inspection: Fixed an issue where incoming HTTP request payloads in Run History only displayed
[IncomingMessage], allowing complete inspection ofmsg.reqobjects. -
Event Handling Fixes: Resolved duplicate events emitted by the Switch node.
Upgrade & Compatibility Guidelines
This is a new Major Version
To maintain stability and ensure compatibility across internal services and data formats:
-
Upgrade only from the immediately preceding major version (e.g., Flow
v5.x.xtov6.0.0) to ensure a supported and reliable transition. Skipping major versions or upgrading from older releases may lead to incomplete migrations, unexpected behavior, or unsupported system states. -
Downgrades to older version are not supported
Once your app is upgraded to v6.0.0 or higher, downgrading or rolling back to lower versions is not supported or recommended.
Minimum Version Requirements for Job Management
If you want to utilize Job management with the latest features, this app version requires you to run at minimum:
-
Checkpoint Nodes are running
qibb-checkpoints-nodes v5.0.0or higher. Before upgrading your app to Flow App v6.0.0, please update the Checkpoint Nodes to v5.0.0 or higher. -
Job management features in the Portal require the platform to be running on
qibb v1.46.0or higher.
We remain committed to improving Flow’s security, performance, and usability based on your valuable feedback. Together, we're building the best possible experience for designing and running your flows! 🚀
